Is situated in the central highlands at an altitude of 1800m and is Sri Lanka’s highest town. Nuwara Eliya is famously known for being the tea capital of Sri Lanka and for being the premier holiday destination for foreigners as well as Sri Lankan tourists. April is the month that see full blossoms in Nuwara Eliya and August is the festive season where pony races, sports car races and various fairs are in action.

           It is important to note that Nuwara Eliya; due to its high altitude has one of the coolest climates in Sri Lanka with a mean annual temperature of 16⁰C. However, temperatures are constantly changing and can go as low as 3⁰C.

         Nuwara Eliya has a golf course, a race course and a beautiful lake named Gregory Lake where one can simply take a walk around the lake or have some fun on a speed boat, jet ski or even paddle boat for a small extra fee. In the park that surrounds the lake one can enjoy dining, biking, horse riding and even helicopter tours.

           From Nuwara Eliya it is possible to visit the Hakgala Botanical Gardens, The Pedro tea estates, Labookelle tea estate, Devon Falls, St. Clair Falls, Horton Plains National Park and The World’s End.
