GALLE FACE BEACH
This is a must visit attraction of Colombo. It is located in the midst of a wide variety and range of 5-star hotels, gourmet European restaurants and street food stalls that serve majorly authentic Sri Lankan cuisines with a mix of Indian cuisines as well. The main attraction of the Galle Face is the long stretch of a neat beach beside the Indian Ocean where picnickers, vendors, children, couples, teens, kite flyers and merrymakers can spend their afternoon or evenings witnessing the beautiful sunset over the horizon.
BENTOTA BEACH
The Bentota lagoon is situated on one of the finest stretches on the west coast which has a string of beautiful and appealing hotels. Amidst a stretch of palm trees is a number of chic boutique hotels which is at the southern end of the beach. Bentota is also famously known for being a hub for water sports and consists of a calm stretch of water for jet-skiing and kayaking. It is also possible to explore the mangroves and tangled waterways of one side of the waters.
MIRISSA BEACH
Mirissa Beach Is situated on the South coast of the country and boasts of fine sands with palm trees with clear waters and sparkling waves which makes it an ideal destination for swimming as well as surfing. Mirissa is becoming famous as a whale-watching spot where a number of whales can be spotted on a frequent basis close to the shore. A number of villagers offer seasonal boat trips to witness the whales, during the months from December to April. There are numerous guesthouses and hotels cluttered along the side of the beach.
